the {NewNew} Spring Handmade Cavalcade April 24 at Berry Park in Williamsburg

Recycling for Cavalcade

1 photoThese 3 tins are great finds and will become clocks at The {NewNew} Spring Handmade Cavalcade.

Part of the 'Truly Recycled' series, each tin has a story. I found Coleman's on an interpreting assignment in a kitchen. I spotted this in the pantry and noticed it was almost empty.

The ah! Bistro tin was found in the recycling on the Upper East Side. As I cleaned it and inspected its origins, I see that it comes from South Africa. It's an import!

Just found the McCann oatmeal in the recycling, right outside my apartment.

See what else I have, and 25 other awesome local designers, April 24.

First Friday Premire at Better than Jam Co-Op April 2 in Bushwick

I'm excited to be a part of my friend Karin's Co-Op of local designers.  Better than Jam is in Bushwick close to the Morgan L stop.  Come Friday April 2, 7-10pm for special in store discounts, wine, and meet the designers.  Here is a photo of one from my new series of three 3 D vintage postcard clocks.  Kitschy and sacreligious - just in time for Easter and Passover.  Link at bottom of photograph.

Afterschool programs with NewYorkClocks!

New York Clocks provides unique in school or after school arts and crafts activities for children K-12 and special needs.

Teach children how to make eco-friendly, sustainable crafts by upcycling (recycling but improving) their household objects.

Make great handmade gifts for Mother's Day, Father's Day, for birthdays or graduations - make a clock with a photograph.

What you will need: have each child provide the item to be used.

Items include: product boxes, tea and spices tins, coffee containers, butter cookie tins, matted photographs, matted graduation announcements or thank-you cards, cigar boxes, a game board. ANY flat surface, not more than about 1/4" thick.

I will drill a hole myself. The child can complete the clock by adding the mechanism, hands and parts which I provide.

Activity time for a class: about 1 hour. Each clock is less than 5 minutes. Children can decorate their clock afterwards with stickers, numbers, etc.

Cost: Only $10 per child, includes clock parts, lesson, drilling. Contact me to schedule.
